TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) is a single-ply roofing membrane that initially provides an economical roofing solution for building owners. However, these systems offer only a single layer of protection and have a service life of 15 years. Reduction in service life can be caused by several issues: TPO roofs are seamed and those areas become one of the first areas to fail and allow water penetration; surface damage can be caused by UV degradation, splits or cuts; raised fasteners cause the membrane to be worn away by foot traffic; and fasteners can back out penetrating the membrane giving a second area where water can enter.

If actual project conditions are such as to be outside the scope of the normal waterproofing practices that are referenced in the documents below, steps should be taken to ensure the restoration remains in compliance with nationally recognized waterproofing practices such as those found in the National Roofing Contractors Association Manual. If the system is applied according to our published specification and guideline, and after successfully passing a final inspection, and then accepted by Thermo Manufacturing Systems, LLC, the system would qualify for the specified warranty.
